Multiple choice with variants?

I have set up a pizza shop where the shopper will be able to choose extra ingredients to add to the basic pizza.

I have set up variants for the ingredients and they show on the product detail page as a drop down.
Is there any way to implement multiple choice?

This is a deal breaker.

If you want multiple selection, you cannot use variants. They are not made for that.
Instead, you should create custom fields of the table "item" and of the type "multiple list" or "checkbox" via the menu Display->Custom fields. However, that's only available for the Business edition.
Also, price cannot change based on the custom fields selection unless you create a custom price calculation plugin so it might not be suitable for what you want to do if you're not a programmer and in that case I don't have any other solution.
