SEO breaks new menu items but not default Hika

I get 404 category not found errors. The menu items work fine without SEO on. I can work around it by using default Hika menu items and changing alias but I like to know what I am doing wrong.

I tried comparing all the settings on the menu items, hike menu options, and module settings on my dual screen setup. I looked at Hika config and it is using what I assume is default for SEF Url options of: Yes, Yes, Category, Product.

I am sure I am missing something simple but I have not a clue as to what it is.

Joomla 2.5.6
Hika 1.5.9

Any other information you need from me?

Can you do a screenshot of the joomla options of your menu item so that we can see that ?

My menu items look like this in the url with 404
test.mydomain.com/Categories/catalog

You default menu items look like this
test.mydomain.com/hikashop-menu-for-products-listing

I have attach pictures for what you asked and more. I tried mimicking your menu settings but no lock. I even created a new item inside your default menu and still no luck. I am sure I am just missing something simple.

Your settings sounds fine.

Could you give the URL of the page on your website ?
Could you also tell us more on your SEF system ?
Do you use joomla's ? Or sh404sef ? Or something else ?
What settings did you set regarding SEF in joomla/the SEF extension ?

UPDATE 8/28/12 7pm EST:So far so good with blank install of joomla and not using jUpgrade. I have only installed Hikashop thus far and no problems yet. As I install other extensions I had going I will keep checking to see if one extension in particular breaks it again.

I am beginning to think that it is not your product, but perhaps rather a jUpgrade that didn't go well. I clicked on the rebuild button in the Joomla menu options and your links were fine.
Any new links I make end up having

test.mydomain.com/Categories/alias of menu item/

The whole categories thing makes no sense to me. I am going to uninstall Hika and see if the site is still broken, which I expect it will be. I will then nuke the site and start with a fresh 2.5.6 install and make sure menu items work. After that is confirmed working I will install Hika on my fresh Joomla install. I will report back so you are aware whether it is related to Hika or not. I expect not.

In the mean time I will give you all the info you asked for, just in case you see something. I was just using default Joolma SEF, see below

I just need to figure out what all of the sudden is putting "catagories" in front of the menu alias.

Thanks for your help even though it is now seeming unrelated to your cart.

The "Categories" text in the URLs must come from the fact that you put your menu items as childs of a menu item which is has the alias "Categories".
That's joomla which handles that automatically based on the menu item tree.

The settings information you provided don't give any other information which would help us solving that I'm afraid. Let us know how it goes with the fresh install.
