Hi. Don't know if it's an error (bug) or a question How To do fix it.

As of 1st October 2012 VAT (BTW) rates here in the Netherlands will go up from 19% to 21%.
Since I don't want to change the taxrates of all products individually I thought of a simple solution:

1) Setting up one TAX ZONE with one TAX CATEGORY
2) For the TAX CATEGORY two TAX RATES: 19 and 21%

The shop will be filled with products with TAX CATEGORY "BTW HOOG" set first with TAX RATE 19%.
The other TAX RATE 21% is not pusblihed yet or unplublished.

After 1st October I want to change the TAXRATE of the TAXCATEGORY to 21%.

Tested it. Seems to work except one thing.
When I go to the product the price with VAT (BTW) included has lowered.
So this does not work. Any ideas or solutions?

This should definitely works.
Try to unpublish the 19% rate or save your product.

Sorry the information I gave was not completely correct.
The TAX RATES can't be unpublished. Only selected in the example above or deleted.

What I have done now is made two TAX CATEGORIES with the same description "BTW HOOG" for each different TAXRATE.

First unpublished the TAX CATEGORY with the 21% TAX RATE
The 19% CATEGORY is active.
Changed the Product with the right price (10 EUR).
VAT is calculated correctly.
Saved the product.
Go back to the TAX Administration.
Published the CATEGORY with the 21% TAXRATE.
Unpublished the CATEGORY with the 19% TAXRATE.
Go back to the product. Price with TAX has gone up above 10 EUR.

Am I missing something here?

I'm not sure I understand everything, did you set the price to 10 euros before changing your rate?
What is your objective? Because the calculated price is good on the base of your given price.
If you are trying to keep the same prices despite the tax augmentation, you can keep you price by looking at this thread where another dutch guy wanted to do the same.

/* I'm not sure I understand everything, did you set the price to 10 euros before changing your rate? */

Thank you - Yes I did

/* What is your objective? Because the calculated price is good on the base of your given price. */

My objective is that the prices with TAX in my case should stay the same despite the higher TAXRATE.
I understand that there a situations where the calculated price with TAX should rise but there are also many situations where the price with TAX should stay the same.

Maybe a feature [or an extra option?] to be added in the future? :)

/* If you are trying to keep the same prices despite the tax augmentation, you can keep you price by looking at this thread where another dutch guy wanted to do the same. */

I looked at the thread and that's exactly what I mean. The most simple solution is then updating the values in the SQL table. I have access to that and can make a backup of the database before any changes are made but still would like to have an option to change all the prices within a certain TAX CATEGORY in a more simple way.

Copying hundreds of products and publish them and unpublish the old one's is another story :( .
That can only be done with the Business Edition of Hikashop. I use that one for this website.

The SQL request will not copy your product but simply change their non taxed price.
So I guess the best solution for you is to do this SQL request the given day and change your tax in the same time (just like you did in the first post).
This will keep the same price but with the new tax.
