also, when I refresh the cart number of items it goes right to paypal login area, and does not refresh

also, the cart displays twice...

has an actual 'continue shopping' function like most ecommerce shopping carts?

Yes it does with the "After a product is added to the cart" option to 'stay and display a pop-up notice' and the "Use AJAX when possible for add to cart button" option to YES.
