I'm setting up a shop and have managed to set it up so it displays related products directly underneath the product currently under display.
I would also like to display the chosen categorys brands above the products if that would be possible? Can't find a way to do it, have tried to copy the module with the related settings but when changing to brands it always displays all available brands instead of only the ones in that particular category.

Any pointers?

There is no option to do that.
If you create a brands listing module, it will display all of the brands.

/sadface

Could it possibly be something for a future release?
I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated.

Anyways, thank you for your time answering me.

Well, I don't see what you want to do actually.

A product has only one brand. So on the product page, displaying a listing of brand which would display only the brand of that product will only display one brand. Is that what you want ?
On the other end, categories do not have brands. The brands are only associated to products. So "Displaying the brands of the category" has no sense as far as I understand.

So I can't say if we could or couldn't implement what you want but in any case, I can say for sure that it's not possible to display only some brands in a brand listing module for now.

Ok
The way I would LIKE it to be set up is as a filter that shows only the brands of the particular category that I'm watching. Clicking on a brand would result in the showing of only the articles of that particular brand in that category.

So it's not on the product page itself.

For example:
I'm selling harddrives. In the subcategory 3.5 inch SATA I could have four different brands listed. As it is now it's hard to easily see the brand of a disk, especially if there is several pages of them. Above the listing of the disks there would be a listing of brands, clicking on lets say Western Digital would result in the shop only displaying the disks in that category made by WD.

You can do that by creating a filter applied on the brands and with the option "dynamic filter" turned on.

More information on filters can be found here:

The dynamic brand filter will only display the brands of the products which are being displayed on the products listing.
