Configuring and setting up modules - trouble

I have run Hikashop for nearly a year now but am still confused with setting up modules for hikashop.

Firstly, I hate the fact that my module manager is littered with "Associated products listing for category listing menu 380" modules. This is one of the most annoying parts with Hikashop. Also don't like the doubling up of module managers - there is one in the Joomla Module Manager and then also one in Hikashop for all the options. It is frankly confusing and annoying for everyone using it.

2. I cannot work out how to configure a module to show the Latest Products. I would like this to show 4 products and slide through 20 products. Everytime i try and set this up it seems it conflicts with my default joomla template (Shape 5 Vertex 2 template)

3. I dont know how to setup the modules to show the Recently Viewed, as this module when i set it up seems to show products that a new user hasnt yet viewed. Is this a module that shows products recently viewed by any visitor?

4. Not sure how to set up a 'Best Sellers' module as i dont think how i have it setup is correct.

5. Most voted?

6. You may like these?

also, having problems with setting up filters and them not looking right and also not appearing on pages where i think they should be appearing.

Any help with configuring these would be great. thanks

Hi,

1. If you don't want the one in HikaShop, why use it at all ? You can already access the hikashop options of your modules via the hikashop options link of your modules via the joomla modules manager.
The Content modules menu of HikaShop is just there to make it easier for you to access the hikashop options of your HikaShop modules.

2.3.4.5.6.
Your problem with all these modules is simple. You don't have the "sub element filter" option set to "all sub elements" for all of them, and you have the "synchronize with currently displayed item when possible" option turn on where it should be turned off for what you want to do.
Otherwise, it only displays the products directly in the main product category (probably none since they must be in sub categories) or it displays the products based on the current category instead of doing it on all the products.

We understand that all these settings can be overwhelming for some users. That's why all these modules are now already pre created with the correct options set when you install the latest version of HikaShop. So all is left is to publish them when you want to use them.

7. We would need more information on what you did for the filters in order to help you out.

Yeah, but it would be better if it was all just under the joomla module. This is the only joomla extension that does it like this and in a way goes against the normal joomla process and makes it confusing for many users. I have had several users make me change their hikashop to virtuemart because of this reason.

You have to use the hikashop one, as when you open the joomla module to edit it, you have to click on Hikashop Options which in turn takes you to the hikashop module manager. Then if you click Save and Close you are taken back to the hikashop module manager but the module is still checked out in the joomla module manager.

you need a Masters degree to work this stuff out, and is just not intuitive and user friendly for most shop owners. An ecommerce system needs to be feature rich but also easy for shop owners to use. If it could be more aligned with how all other joomla modules are done (where the hikashop options are included in the actual joomla module manager) and the module manager of hikashop was removed, it would make it alot easier and less confusing for everyone.

As i have said, i have been using hikashop for over a year now and thought that i would become accustomed to this, but no, after this time i still don't like it and neither do people who I install hikashop for.

what is the difference between product_total_vote and product_average_score?

1. not sure what the average score is (i am assuming that is when it gets a rating of 4/5) but when i choose this setting i get shown products that have never been rated
2. i have changed the setting so that the votes are shown in the module for this module, but when i click yes, they dont show??

product_total_vote is the number of votes for a product.
product_average_score is the average score for a product.

It's an ordering selection. It doesn't mean that it will remove some of the products from the listing.

Can you do a screenshot of the options of the module and give a link to that page ?
Did you have changed one of the files of the product view before updating ? That might explain why you don't see the votes.
