Characterictics - Select before adding to cart

Hi everyone,

Update; I have been doing great with learning HikaShop. Been a great learning experience. Now Im stuck with Characteristics/variants.

When products have many items to choose from, I use characteristics,and it works well. I would like to know is there a way to put a "select" on the drop-down to make aware customers must "SELECT" an item size or color.

A simple option is to add a new characteristic named "select" and give it a quantity of 0. In this way, you can put it as selected by default but customers won't be able to buy it
