Import of Variants

Hi,

If I wish to import variants, I believe the characteristics need to be created first, Is this correct?

The problem that I am having is if for example I have two products:
Product1: sweatshirt Large, Medium, Small and then the colours Red Blue Green
Product2: Tshirt 5-6, 7-8, 9-11 and the colours Yellow, Pink, White

Do I need to create separate characteristics for these before I import?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as always.

I have added the screen dumps, the products initially appear in the front end, but without the correct quantities, but then when I go into manage variants, I get the saved message and they then disappear.

I am figuring this out, but it does seem to that I then have to go to every single products add the characteristics and then import each product at a time?

I also have to manually add the characteristics to each product, before importing each product.
For example throughout the whole product range their are 628 unique colours and combinations and 150 sizes.

With 1012 unique products without variants being the parent products. Surely there must be a way to automate this process?

Help would help so much :)

Hi,

The problem is that in your CSV you're missing the size and colour values. There, you should enter the size/colour which will be displayed on the product page by default. Since you don't have any, the variants cannot be generated properly for the product which is why you have to add your characteristics manually after importing the CSV. If the CSV would be correct, you wouldn't have to do that.

Thanks so much for you help Nicolas,

I put in one sample product and with the characteristics manually.
The after exporting the csv I opened it up in Excel and simply changed the data.

It seems I have to click manage variants to save each product with the variants?

The Categories have been imported successfully.

I have included the exported CSV, does anything seem odd in this to you?

Hi,

You should not have to click on the "manage variants" button of each product.
If you have to do it after the import, it means that there is a problem with the CSV.

I can see that you have some empty values in the colour column for some variants. That could be a problem.
The column product_id should also be removed.
Also make sure that all the values that you have for the characteristics in the CSV exists already in HikaShop.
