Hello,

We are having a teaching session that we are preparing to make available to people through a CDN (Content Delivery Network) and we need to be able to charge for access to this teaching. Can I sell a secured access to a particular page on my Joomla 1.5 website?

Many Thanks for any advice

Hi,

Yes. You can create joomla articles for your content and restrict their display to only some user groups. Then, with the Business edition of HikaShop, you can use the "user group after purchase" option of the products so that the user gets access to the article(s) of the user group attached to the product after he pays for it.

Hi Nicolas,

Having problems figuring out how to restrict content to a user group, I can see that Joomla 1.6 has implemented a much greater ACL scheme but I am using 1.5

Can you point me in the right direction here?

Many Thanks

Hi Nicolas,

I have purchased the Business version of Hikashop and see that the group after purchase works well.

However I am having problems with making the DJF ACL component work.

I have given a module the djfacl access level and made the bridge djf acl module following the documentation. It disappears from the website as it's supposed to but does not appear to any of my logged in users associated with the DJF ACL group that I have created.

I think I understand how it is supposed to work but I am stumped at this point. The documentation is in Italian and the Google translation is less than perfect.

I know that this component is not yours but it is the one that you have recommended so I am hoping you can help...

Thanks

Colin

Hi,

I've never used that component so I can't help you much.
I recommended it to you because other users of HikaShop already used it to make their user groups on 1.5 for HikaShop and that it was working fine for them. Also, that's the one and only component for joomla 1.5 which can create and manage standard joomla user groups. Others would not use the ACL system of Joomla and thus it wouldn't work with HikaShop since we use standard joomla user groups.

So there is not a lot of solutions I can provide to you. Either you find a solution to make it work or I would recommend to switch to joomla 2.5 where ACL management is included by default in Joomla. In any case, updating Joomla is a good idea since it won't be supported anymore by the Joomla project (it was supposed to not be supported anymore at the end of September but it won't last much longer).
