How to make alphauserpoints deduction before taxes

It seems that taxes are calculated before the alphauserpoints are deducted off an order. I'm not sure about internationally, but in Canada I can't do business this way. Taxes can only be charged on the amount of real money collected. The way its set up now, taxes are charged on an item even if its 100% paid for with alphauserpoints.

How can I change this?

When you pay with AUP as a partial payment option during the checkout, it adds a coupon to the order which is the equivalent of the points in money. Coupons can be calculated before or after tax based on the option "tax category" of the coupon and the option "apply discount" of the configuration.
For the "tax category" option, you won't be able to set it as the coupon is generated automatically, so that might require a modification in the AUP plugin. But I would first recommend to try to switch the "apply discount" option of the configuration.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for the reply. But my main configuration option "Apply Discounts" in Hikashop is already set to "before taxes"... So the AUP plugin is not respecting that somehow?

Hi Nicolas,

I don't mean to rush you but I'd really like to get this fixed up before our website launches on Wednesday this week :)

Any last minute assistance? Our site goes live in a few hours...

My back-up plan is to manually refund orders that overpay because of this glitch. That's a nightmare, frankly.

Hey Nicolas,

Its been awhile and our site launched on the 17th. It hasn't been a major issue (because people have not accumulated much AUP points yet) but I would still like to get this fixed up. Can you assist me please? Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi,

Sorry for that your message had slipped.

You still didn't answer me though.
Did you try to change the value of the "apply discount" option ?
The system of taxes and discounts calculation is quite complex but I think that it might do what you want.

If not, can you please give a complete example. Ie, the price of the products in the cart, with and without taxes, the tax rate, the points used, the result that you have and the result that you would need to have so that we can try to reproduce the problem on our end ?

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for the reply.

I did not understand your question the first time. Yes, I have toggled back and forth between apply discounts before or after taxes (in HikaShop > System > Config > Main) and it makes no difference.

I figured out that the problem isn't unique to Alphauserpoints. Its any coupon.

Here is an example you can try on our site:
1. Add this product to your cart
www.nucleus-soundlab.com/products/refill...erhead-reason-4.html
2. Checkout with a Canadian address
3. Use promo code hikatest

You can see its a 100% coupon, yet you are still charged %5 GST! I managed to fix this by changing the 'tax category' for the hikatest coupon to 'default' from none. The AUP problem seems to be because I'm not sure how to set the AUP-auto-created coupons to the 'default' tax category. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Thanks,

Jeremy
