geolocation and prices

I need to duplicate a VM shop with geomla plugin which shows different prices and currencies depending on the geolocated zone, can I set this up using Hika and geolocation?

For example a single product sells to:
customer in zone 1 at £3.50
customer in zone 2 at £4.00
customer in zone 3 $9
The customer zones are currently identified by geolocation and the customer sees the correct price for the zone they are ordering from.
We don't need currency conversion as our payment gateway filters $ from £ and directs them to different banks.
Postage and tax is included in all prices.

Can we do the same thing using Hikashop and the geolocation plugin?

HikaShop allows you to have one price per currency for each product and then the geolocation plugin will allow you to have a preset currency based on the zone of the user.
But that means that you can't have two prices in the same currency for different zones. So your example wouldn't work if the two first prices where for the same currency.

I have a similar need to the OP. I need different prices for different zones but a number of zones will share the same currency (i.e. US$).

Is it possible to duplicate (for example) the USD currency several times and apply a suitable increased or decreased rate so it appears on the front end that each zone is in USD but in Hikashop it is using several USD currencies to cope with the different prices for the various zones?

And if the above is possible, does the geolocation plugin allow for site visitors to be 'automatically' shown product prices based on the US currency for their zone?

Hope that all makes sense...

Cheers

No I haven't tried - I am just researching at this point. I am quoting on a job but need to know if Hikashop can do what the client wants without too much (if any) development.

Cheers

Still regarding geolocation and prices - is it possible to automatically set and display a specific currency from information gathered from a visitors geolocation?

Hi,

You can see the "geolocation" plugin parameters in our demo website.
demo.hikashop.com/administrator/index.ph...t&extension_id=10053

It uses an API from ipinfodb in order to have the country.
After that, in HikaShop, you can set a currency for a specific country (or state).
Just editing zones to configure it.

What is the procedure to define different prices for different currencies?

I don't want the price to convert but to be fixed for each currency. I need my product to be 9,95CAD and also 9,95USD.

Thanks,

Hi,

When you edit your product, add two prices, and for each one, select the currency you want.
That way, the system will use the price in the current currency if available and not convert.
