Clone a Site ?

I am documenting this here, and also asking for help please.

1) Using the "search" on the forum, I did these 3 words:

clone a site

And got only 7 results, none with my exact topic and I am sure someone here by now must have done a dupiclate.

2) I have just installed a New Joomla 2.5.7 and getting ready to install another instance of Hika

3) The "site name" will of course change, but the cart items will be the same.

Any tips? I know I would need to bring in the MySQL and also the folders in order to get images...but the original site has a lot more modules installed that I will need....and just wondering what ones I really need to get please.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Hi there,

Could you more precise about what you mean by "clone a site"?
If you want to have exactly the same website you can make an export of your current database and import it in your new website.
However the two websites need to have the same Joomla and Hikashop version.
However, if you just want the same items, you can do an export of your Hikashop product and then import them in your new website :).

I think you need to use the Akeeba backup extension.

Install, run a backup, restore with Akeeba Kisckstart and rename the site.

Hope it helps!

Thank you very much for your and sorry for such late reply. And I am just now getting around to trying to recreate the site.

Forgive me, but I am editing this post.. as I realized the backup I did do, was after all the files and mysql data on old server was lost.

I will start a new thread for my issue.
