use images stored on server instead of uploading

Just wondering if there is a way of choosing locally stored images from server for products.

I'm not sure I get what you want... Do you want the uploaded product's images to be in a different location on your server?
If it's what you're trying to achieve you can simply go in System>Configuration>Files and change the "Upload folder" to another location.
Thus, images will be stocked in this location as well as thumbnails and so on.

i was looking for the same...

a way to choose a picture instead of adding uploading a new picture, when you want to add a picture to a product.

if you create alot of new products at once, its easier to ftp upload all the pictures at once, then just choose them instead of uploading.

i would suggest to use com_media as your picture controller instead, so that it will use the default joomla way to do it, and will use jce's media gallery instead, if installed.
