products show when I click on parent category

Hi
I am having a pretty basic, beginner’s problem with my HikaShop menu. I tried to follow the setup on the HikaShop demo site and it works almost okay except that if I click on a parent category in the menu (on the front end obviously) I see on the main part of my screen a list of its sub categories (which I didn't necessarily want but is okay) plus all the products associated with all the subcategories belong to that patent category - which I definitely don't want. All the Associated products listings modules are unpublished but that doesn't help. If I manage to click directly on the sub category it works fine, I see only related products but I don't see how I could stop anyone clicking on the parent category because that seems such an obvious thing to do.

I want my menu to work the same as your demo menu, i.e. if you click on a parent item (eg Automobile, Pictures etc) you then see the two sub categories and only when you click on the sub category that you are interested in do you see available products.

I am using Skyline HikaShop Accordian - would it be better to display the menu differently? If so how? I am also using HikaShop Business and Joomla 2.5.6.

p.s. Thanks a lot for HikaShop - while I am having typical frustrating beginners' problems I am not buried in despair like I was when I tried RedShop.

Hi,

In all the products listing modules options that you can find via the menu Display->Content modules, make sure that the option "sub element filter" is set to "direct sub elements" (even for the unpublished modules) and that will do what you want.

Thanks - that worked. It didn't occur to me to worry about modules that weren't enabled!
