Tax issue in admin order management [resolved]

I've got tax working just fine on the front end when an order is created.

When I attempt to manage an order that has just been created, I am provided with some odd numbers.

The Additional Information box, the "Subtotal" includes TAX and yet it also shows a "TAX" line (in the attached image the "TAX" line is named "VA").

The order also shows the TAX being added on the product line which coincides with the above Subtotal number.

In the front end it looks like TAX is totaled after products and coupons/discounts/shipping has been applied, which is how we expect to see it in the back end, but this is not the case.

How can I make the "Sub Total" only include product price total?

How can I make each product order line show the product price without tax?

DOH!

All the products were attached to the default tax category which caused it to do tax on products first. Had to run a script on phpmyadmin to change the tablefield product_tax_id to 0 for all my prodcuts and then the tax was applied properly in the backend.

600 products that could have taken a while doing by hand.

Silly tax.
