Affiliate testing

It might be my own stupidity but I can't get the Affiliate system to work:

I left the "partner_id" the same, opened my own user account, activated it as partner, took that user ID and opened a link to one of my articles in the browser of course adding the &partner_id=39.

I was expecting to see this registered in the partner overview as a click but nothing shows up.

(Using the very latest v2.0)

What is the proper way to test it?

Hi,

The affiliate system allow the affiliate to share a link with his ID, then if a customer bought an item and is coming from that link, the affiliate receive money on his affiliate account.

So to test the affiliate functionality, go to your shop from the affiliate link, bought an item and see the affiliate partner account to see if it has been credited.

Sorry Xavier, this is a non answer. Guess you have been reading too fast and too many questions today :-)

I am fully aware about the link, seems simple and good. But if I use the link (with added partner ID) without buying but only going to the site and checking some pages, at least I should see the clicks counting. That does not happen.

Ok found the issue that was not clear after reading the DOCS.

I was under the impression that selecting a user in the backend and setting its partner account to active would be sufficient together with its Joomla user ID but that did not work.

Only when I went from the front end to the affiliate / partners page and selected the activation there, it worked.

So for others that struggle too, this might be a good check too.

Otherwise it works very nice and simple.
