Transliteration

Hi,

My web site has been running for few months. Since, the site is in Russian, Hikashop used some function of transliteration of web links.
For example, a link to a product named "Мотоблок Салют-5БС1 (6.5 л.с.)" looked like this:
/shop/product/393-motoblok-salyut-5bs1-6-5-l-s/category_pathway-86

Suddenly I have found out that it is now changed. Although, Google still sees the above links, but the actual links are reworked as following:
/shop/product/393-5-1-6-5/category_pathway-86

In other words, the cyrillic characters have been omitted instead of transliterated.

I tried to play with Joomla's setting of Unicode Alias (under SEO options in configuration). When I set it to YES, the link looks full and correct:
/shop/product/393-мотоблок-салют-5бс1-6-5-л-с/category_pathway-86

However, I do not want to use unicode characters in my URLs due to campatibility issues.
Is it something to do with Joomla or Hikashop?

If it is related to Hikashop, can you advice how to correct it?

Thank you.

Hi,

That is handled by Joomla. There is nothing to correct and Unicode characters in URLs are not a problem at all.
