Terms and Conditions at checkout AND download

Hi,

I have a client, client A, that wishes to sell a subscription to download a file to his client, client B, that will then allow members of client B's group to download the file unlimited times. Client B needs to agree to Terms upon checkout. But all client B group members also need to agree to terms before downloading the file. I am not sure if it is the same terms but I am pretty sure it is.

So can I have a Terms agreement occur prior to download just as I can during checkout?

Not exactly sure how to handle the setup, either. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well. :)

Thanks,
Helen

Hi,

I don't really understand what you need.
On which download link do you want that the terms appear ? On a free link displayed on a product page restricted to a certain group of users ?
On the link which can be found in the order accessible from the user control panel ?

In all cases, I think that it will require some JavaScript, display the checkbox with the link to the terms, if the popup is unchecked then hide the download link, else display it.

Hi Xavier,

Free download links would be available to non-registered users - all visitors. I am not sure if it would need to occur on free download links as well as paid, but I would think both.

This way, everyone has to agree to the Terms, which are in this case copyright and use terms, before they have access to copyrighted documents.

So it sounds like it would be possible. This is good news. If my clients decides to proceed with this plan, how could I get this developed and how long might it take? And would there be a fee?

Thanks,
Helen

Hi,

It is possible to implement such feature using a custom HikaShop plugin.
The plugin would catch the download event (onBeforeDownloadFile trigger) and would stop it if the Tems are not accepted. Instead it would display the Terms with a checkbox for the "acceptation".

If you want a quote for this plugin development, you can contact us using our contact form or you can mail me directly (jerome at hikashop.com).
You can use the section "Commercial jobs" too.
