Canadian Taxes setup

I am confused - really confused. I am trying to follow the documentation to set up Canadian provincial taxes and failing. I have created all possible permutations of the tax rates. Assigned them to zones - in my case provinces. Set Products' tax rate to a default province - Ontario.

When I log in to test - I get tax calculations without issues. But if I create a dummy user with an address in another provice - there is no tax coming up.

I think i have tried many combinations, but I seem to be missing the logic - please help - this is semi-urgent.

Still trying to figure it out.... I've narrowed down my question to: in the Product I set my Product Tax. In my case Product Tax for a product is a rate for my province (Ontario)

If Product Tax = User address with province Ontario - I can see the tax. However if I have 2 tax rates (in Canada some provinces have a provincial and federal sales taxes) for Ontario - only 1 will show up - the one that is linked in the Product Tax.

But if the user has an address anywhere else no tax comes up.

So I guess my question is - what is the logical link between Tax Rules and User Province address?

You problem indeed comes from the product tax categories.
You should have only ONE tax category since you probably sell only one type of goods (in each zone, all the products of your store are taxed at the same tax rate, right ?). Then, select that tax category in your products and in your tax rules and voilà.

Thank you Nicolas - I figured it out! Perfect, but a new issue surfaced, I read other posts - and it seems to be a one-off issues.

For some provinces I have cumulative tax set (and I understand that it is not the same as compounding )

But here's what's happening on the front end: I have two tax rates GST (5%) - federal tax and PST (7%) - provincial tax. For a product with a price of $42.99 GST should be $2.15 and PST - $3.01 But I see for each tax GST and PST $5.16 & $5.16 (see screen shots)

Can you make sure that the "HikaShop tax calculations override plugin" plugin is turned off on your website ?
That could be why it's not working properly.

Sorry Nicolas - that did not work. I disabled it - and tax calculation disappeared altogether.

Any other suggestions please. This is is the only thing that is preventing me from buying the business version (I am testing to see that I can have this work and move everything from CoreCommerce. I want my customers to shop on my site without any redirects)
