Left vertical menu with product categories?

Like in many web shops I would like to have a left side vertical menu with all my product categories listed.
This is possible in HikaShop but not to apply these amnus any module suffix.
I would need to add a module suffix to it as I have mede my template in Artisteer 4 and the styling of the vertical menus are depending on this modue suffix.
The HikaShop menus has no such option or is it possible to do a joomla template override for this and if so how?
Or is there any other solution to my problem?

So far I have found a solution by using the HikaShop content module.
My settings (Joomla Module settings):
Details
1. Position: left
Basic settings
1. Module class suffix: "art-vmenu"
Module assignment
English menu - Web shop
Swedish menu - Webbshop

Then in the settings for the HikaShop alternatives
1. Type of content: Category
2. Type of layout: List
3. Number of columns: 1
4. Number of posts: 20
5. Subelement filter: Direct sub elements
6. Parent category: 2 product cateory
7. Syncronize displayed products if possible: Yes
8. Menu: Webbshop (from the Swedsih menu)
Parameters for categories
1. Fields for ordering: category_ordering
2. Show sub categories: No sub categories
3. Link on main category: No
4. Show number of products: No
5. Display only categories with products: No
6. UL-Class name: " art-vmenu"

This makes the left menu with all categories render the meny correclty but then another problems pops up.
I can't access the web shop and see this menu if I ckick the english flag in the language shifter.
I have to first go to the swedish version of the site by ckicking the language shifter swedish flag and then click the webbshop link to enter it in swedish then I can shift language to english and see the menu.
Also if I'm in the web shop and ckick on a category to view the different products the left menu disappears.
I have tried to associate it by adding URLs (I am using the third party extension Advanced Module Manager where this option is present) but nothing works.
Is it possible to have this left menu on all pages in the shop site? I mean no atter what I do the menu shall be visible as long as I'm in the shop.

If anyone has any suggetsion how to solve this I would be very happy.

Bet regards
Micke

Hi,

I have no idea why you should use the Swedish version first.
The module is a joomla module, so it would be display as it. There is no specific code do hide it.
Just some classical joomla module options, so you should look at the joomla "menu assignment "options.

Don't know what you mean by why I should ue the swedish menu first...
I have got it to render the Artisteer template settings for menu but not been able to have a category list on all the webshop pages.
As soon as I pick a category in the menu list the menu disappears no matter how I try to make assignments as there are no menu items for the sub pages to the HikaShop I guess.
But I guess more developers than I would like the category list shown on all prouct pages. But I just can't figure out how to do that.

Hi,

This is what I don't understand:

I have to first go to the swedish version of the site by ckicking the language shifter swedish flag and then click the webbshop link to enter it in swedish then I can shift language to english and see the menu.

When you select a category, it should be thanks to a module. This module would call an HikaShop page.
This page does not use a menu, it would be a generic hikashop url. If you want to use a menu, you should assign a menu to your module (in HikaShop backend: Display > Content module).

I solved the problem with entering the shop in English version, I had missed to cross link the english menu item with the swedish so that works fine now.

You mean the Menu under the Details Tab? In that I have choosed Webbshop for the Swedish left side menu in HikaShop and Web Shop which is the English left side products menu in HikaShop. Is this correct?
Anyway I still can't see that menu when clicking on any of the listen categories in the menu when entering HikaShop from the regular site.
You can check it out here:
www.fly.tiers.se (go for the Web SHop in English version or Webbshop in swedish).

Hi,

Your link is not working.
When you enter a category, you should still be in a menu, maybe not the same but, with a working link it would be easier to give you more details.

Hi,
I have had soe mailing support in the mean time during the holidays so everything except from the Falang integrating with HikaShop works fine now.
The Falang translation problem is when you are in the shop and have clicked a left menu product category and then click the English flag (or Swedish if you're
on the english version) then you directly get redirected to the start page of the web shop.
This is ok but if you should use it the way you'r using it in the main site then you just jump from Swedish to English and vice versa totally smooth where ever you are between articles. But I think that's because you have all menus separated and all articles are under the Swedish or English main categories with respectively sub catefories, in other words translated manually and made manually and all manu items are also linked together between swedish and english. This is not the case in the HikaShop/Falang translation. Here is only the categories etc translated in Falang in HikaShop so it works but not like shifting dirextly between prodct to product language to language.
If there's a solution to this it would be neat but if not I can live with this solution as I hardly think shop visitors will click between products in different languages anyway.

Hi,
Ok my only problem now is when entering the web shop and click on anything in the left menu and then click the English flag (if you're on the swedish site), you get redirected to the start page of the Web Shop no matter where you are in the web web shop and click the other lannguage flag you come to the starting page of the Web Shop for that language. If it should work correct it should immediately translate the page you're at not go to the start of the web shop. or am I wrong?
If you are in the other parts of the web site everything is connected between Swedish and English in the Joomla language translation way ( I have made all articles in both Swedish and English and connected all menu items). But with the Web SHop I use Falang and except from the fact that you get directed to the start page of the shop as soon you click a flag to translate it works fine.

Hi,

For the menu items of HikaShop, you should not restrict them to a language in the menu manager but make it available for all the languages and translate the menu item via Falang's interface. That way, you won't be redirected to the home when you change the language on one of these menu items.

As far as I understand I have the HikaShop manus multi lingual so when clicking the menu items there's no linked together thing like with the site outside the web shop.
As soon as you click the Web Shop link in the main menu you enter the HikaShop part with HikaShop menus and all translations are made with Falang so this issue is something else. Or else I have misunderstood your point.

URL to the site is: fly-tiers.se

Looking at your website, your problem seems to come from the fact that the "menu" option of your hikashop categories listing module is not set properly.

Go in the menu Display->Content modules and edit your module (id 126). There, in the "menu" option, select a hikashop categories listing menu and that should work better.

Thanks for replying, I tried that but it didn't help the direct translation. If you want I can send you login details....

I still see that you didn't set that option properly. So I'm still thinking that it comes from that.

We can have a look at your settings yes.

That's indeed what I thought. You didn't select a hikashop categories listing menu item in the "menu" option of your module.
It is still set to the "webshop" menu which is not a hikashop type menu item.

I went in to Components/HikaShop/Display/Content Modules
In there I choose No 126 (Products) then in the lower left column under Menu I choose "HikaShop default menus" and the option Kategorilista and then save.
In the shop there's still a redirect to the start page of the web shop in the other language if you click the language chooser flags. So what have i done wrong?

You're using two modules in your webshop menu based on the language you are before clicking on the menu 'webshop'. One with the id 112 and one with the id 126. Please do the change for the other one too.

On the page www.fly-tiers.se/index.php/en/hikashop-m...category/17-muddlers , which comes from the module with the id 126, if I click on the left flags, I'm not redirected to the home page so it seems to work for that module.

Ok I did. If clicking the language switcher flags it's working now but only on the first level directly after clicking a category in the category meny. After clicking a product when entered that category I get back to the starting page of the web shop again.
If there's a way to get it work on sub levels as well in the shop it would be great.
