Hide a Category

I know you can hide a category with no products in it, but what if I want to show some categories on one page of my site and then another selection of categories on another page. But then on the third page I want all categories shown?

Is there a way to pick and choose which categories are shown within a module?

You want some pages to filter the Mens cloths, then womens cloths then a 3rd category with all cloths.

I would manually create the categories and put the products in each, in effect not filtering but have 3 different categories with products linked to the repective ones. You could do this simply if you have a great deal of products using excel when you import your products.
