Display images in category listings

Hi, I am currently using HikaShop version 2.0.0. I have assigned category listings to each menu that is displayed on the left side of the page (Attachment1). Along with product title, I would also like to display product images in the product boxes when clicked on a menu; however, I can't get it to work. On the other hand, when I click on the product title, the image can be displayed (Attachment2). Attachment3 shows the back-end settings I am using. Could you please help me to fix this?

Hi,

Your category listing use a product listing module associated.
This module has to be configured in order to display product images.
Please click on the "select" button in order to check which module is used for the product listing and edit the parameters of this module.

Hi, thanks for your response. I have attached the screenshot for the associated product module. I have played with the image width and height parameters but it didn't impose a change. Module is published, associated category is selected, corresponding menu is also selected.

Hi,

Do you have edited the view "product / listing_img_title" ? You have maybe removed the image part of this view.
Can you give us a screenshot of your images configuration ? (hikashop > configuration > files)

"Do you have edited the view "product / listing_img_title" ? You have maybe removed the image part of this view."
I couldn't understand this comment.

I have added the product image through the "Images" tab (Attachment5). I haven't inserted any images to the product article. Also, I haven't uploaded any images to any Hikashop folder. In Media Manager I don't see any Hikashop folders, either. Hikashop>Configuration>files screenshot is attached (Attachment6).

I set thumbnail width and height to 320x320 (bigger than the actual image size). It didn't help. I also set the "product page image width and height" and "image width and height" to 320x320. This didn't help either.

I have same problem too, I try every possible ways, modify product module setting, the menu setting, I never modify the code from "product listing_img_title"

so what I did is instead of using "img_title" layout, I am using "image_panel" layout with "thumbnail" for Item box border, that way the image of product will show up(you can type in the size of image to determine the size of img panel)

Can you try to remove the main images in the product edition page and in the folder. Then upload it again with the parameters set for the images.

You can do it on only 1 product to see if it's working.

I removed the image and deleted the category. I recreated the category and added the image again. Still cannot display the image. Also, now when I go into the product's page, the image is shifted to the right and product price and # of products are shifted to the left (see attachment).

Also, I can display the com_hikashop folder when I connect to server but I cannot display this folder through the Media Manager in Joomla back-end.

Hi Xavier,
Today I purchased the Essential version to make some things look more professional. My problem with displaying images continue. Here's the current situation (somehow I cannot attach images to my messages in the forum).

Using Filezilla I created a folder to upload pictures. Folder name is: /media/com_hikashop/images/products. Owner permissions are all checked for Read, Write and Execution. When I go to Media Manager in the back-end, I don't see this folder.

I upload the product image using the Add button in the Images tab located in the product page. I don't insert any images to the Main Information document. Are there widthxheight limits for the images (i.e. do I need to reduce resolution)?

I want the product to be connected to a menu item, let's say Gourd. When the customer clicks on Gourd, he/she will see the product image in a box, along with its price and Add to Cart button. When the customer clicks on the product link, the new page will show description and comments page. Right now, the Gourd menu I have is connected to categories listing (=menu item type). In the HikaShop options, a product listing module for Gourd is associated with this category. In the Parameters for DIV tab, I haven't changed anything.

I would really appreciate if you can help me resolve this as I want to open my store, soon.
Thanks

Hi,

- The upload folder for images should be configured in HikaShop. The default is "/media/com_hikashop/upload/".
For files it is "/media/com_hikashop/upload/safe".

- You should have an upload limitation with your web hosting. The default limitation is 2MB.
After that, if HikaShop does not have write access to the upload folder, it can't save them.

Hi Jerome,

Now I checked the Files tab and attached it. It looks like in the back-end everything seems to be the same as you indicated.

Also, I have checked the permissions of the com_hikashop/upload folder, and they are all checked (Read/Write/Execute).

Hi,

I've read all that thread and I think that everyone got confused on a simple thing.
Actually, the reason you don't see the thumbnails on the listing of products is because you changed the "item box layout" option to "title" instead of "image and title" in your products listing module.
The screenshot of the options that you have shown us is the listing of categories menu to which the products listing module is attached. It only affect the categories listing display, not the products listing display.

So on the option page www.hikashop.com/media/kunena/attachments/12567/Attachment3.jpg , you need to click on the associated modules link on the left bottom and that will display the options of the products listing module. There, you can change the layout option in order to display the images.

Hi Nicolas,
I am going to walk you through what I have. I do NOT want to see a thumbnail in my product box. I want to see the true image of the product when the customer clicks on a menu. I summarized what I want to do in Step1 and Step2 (attached). Also, I took screenshots of back-end settings (attachments Menu, HikaShop Options, Module). It actually is very simple and I believe could be fixed in 10 secs.

- Are my images supposed to be equal to or smaller than a certain resolution?
- Is there a problem with the module assignment? Instead of assigning a product listing module to my category listing, should I use another module?
- Anything else?

Thanks

Hi there,

If I get it, I guess the answer is, as said Xavier, to specify a product image width and height in the global parametre (System>Configuration>Files).
Try to reupload your images after this and tell us if it does the job. Don't forget to leave the module's and menu's dimensions empty if you want the global parameters to be applyed.
If it doesn't work, we may need a backend access to take a look at it :)

Are you talking about the "Product page image width and height" or "Image width and height"? Also should the dimensions that I need to define in the global parameters bigger than the actual image sizes or should they be identical?
