Hikashop and Business Directory

Hello I recently purchased the business edition and multi-vendor. I haven't had a chance to install and get familiar with the software but I do have a question. I am looking at installing Hikashop, Community Builder, and Kunena. I would like to have a business directory similar to SobiPro or MosetsTree, but I would rather not install so many components. Is there a way the Hikashop Multivendor can act as a Business directory as well (e.g. categorizing businesses, by category, sub-category, location, etc.?). Can it serve as a business directory as well, or should I install a different component for that?

Hi,

Vendors could be customized thanks to "custom fields" so you can create any field you want.
After that, a vendor could have his HikaShop category for products but there is not vendor category in the current version (but this feature is planned).

If you have some details we could introduce them into the feature request so the development could directly include your ideas.

So is it possible to create a custom field (or several) in the vendor profile that would be called categories, and then have the shopper look at categories that would include the vendors who specified they are apart of that category?
_____________
For example: I would create 3 identical custom fields, all drop down selection fields, that contain a list of categories.

Then Vendor ABC chooses "grocery store" from the first drop down custom field. And "meat shop" from a second drop down custom field.

The end user can then view a directory (that has all the categories listed), and when they click on "meat shop" then Vendor ABC will be displayed along with other vendors who chose that category. And same for "grocery store" category. So basically allowing a vendor to be listed in as many as 3 categories, and having their vendor profile displayed when people list vendors in a specific category.
_____________

Is this currently possible?

I would look at SobiPro as model for building a business directory for your vendors. That way vendors can be displayed based on a business directory interface. Make the vendor profiles searchable and sortable the same way the products are, but with different fields on their profile that are specifically designed to promote them as a vendor/store, whether online or locally. e.g. address, map etc.

Hi,

Creating a custom field for the category would not really help for the vendor listing except if you want to code in PHP the filters on vendors.

In HikaMarket you can activate an option which would automatically create a category for your vendors and you can specify a "parent directory" for these.
So you would be able to create a vendor listing thanks to a category listing. The link between the vendor and his category would be improved but it already works.
