Configure Checkout Properly

I'm getting super frustrated with trying to configure the checkout process, and I'm going around in circles. I upgraded from the free edition to the business edition in the hopes that it would make life easier ... not so far!

What I really need to achieve is to disable the registration process completely. I have turned everything off that's supposed to be, but still I have to enter address details, and click register BEFORE I'm taken to a screen with shipping address, etc.

When my customers click on proceed to cart, or add to cart, I want them to go immediately to the screen where they enter their billing address, shipping address, shipping method and payment method. At the moment, this is the second screen they get.

I've attached screenshots of both screens, and my checkout tab. My web address is www.shamrockshirts.com.au/2013 (if you need to purchase a product as a test, there is only 1 product in the auto slogans category).

I need to launch this website on Wednesday night, so a quick response would be much appreciated.

Hi there,

I just took a look and I guess the issue you're talking about is the register button which still appears? Because every seems to be in the same page.
Did you activated the no registration mode in system>configuration>checkout? If you did, you just have to change the translation of the register button by editing the language file in System>configuration>language.
Find the register line and replace it by something like "save address".

I am not trying to override the register button, I don't understand why the registration screen is coming up at all when I have selected NO to registration. Why are the customers required to enter their details on this page, only to then be taken to a second page with the same information? It's very confusing.

This part is not for the registration, but for the address. You can see in the checkout workflow configuration you can't have the login step without the address step.
It's required in the workflow to have the shipping & billing address of the customer, when the registration is activated, we save the data for the customer, when disabled, we use the address for the checkout process.

So in that case, you just have to override the translation, by this way it will not be confusing for the customers.

What can be done too, is edit the view "checkout / step" and change the action onClick on the "next" button to submit the address form and then the checkout form.
You will have to remove the button "Register" in the view "checkout / address_view".
It require good PHP and JavaScript knowledges.

Okay, so I'm not going to be able to configure the checkout process to be simple and clean. I don't have advanced coding skills and don't have the time now to hire someone to do it for me.

Also, how do I disable the shopping cart from showing on the checkout screen? It seems a little silly and a bit confusing to have a cart on a cart. It's in module position right_top

Thanks for all your help

To remove the cart in the checkout, you can force a menu in the checkout. The option is in HikaShop > Configuration > Checkout.

Select a menu where the cart is not displayed. (You can create a new hidden menu for that).

I've done that, and it's certainly done what it should, however now I'm getting the following error message at the top of the screen:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /clientdata/apache-www/s/h/shamrockshirts.com.au/www/2013/templates/corporate_response/vertex/general_functions.php on line 44
