Filter field title disappearing on click

Hello! I've got a problem with the filters in my category listing.

On certain fields, when I click on a field to filter, the title disappears and only leaves the grey cross. Other fields when clicked show the field text that has been clicked in red, as well as the grey cross.

I want the field text to remain on screen when clicked. Testing site page here: taylordynamics.com/websitev2/index.php/r...br-shaft-br-encoders

A bit hard to explain - I've done a before and after screengrab. Can anyone help?

Many thanks - Leo

Hi there,

Indeed it looks like a bug, however it is strange that the other filters are working well.
Did you tried to delete this filter and recreate it?
Also, what kind of filter is it? Could you post a screenshot of the filter's configuration?

Thanks :)

Hi Eliot

Thanks for your reply. I deleted and recreated the filter as suggested, but it still has the same problem. It's also introduced another problem - I want the filter to be at the top of the list, and now it's at the bottom and I can't see how to re-order them?

I've attached a screengrab of the filter settings. The settings are identical to other filters which are working properly.

Any further ideas are appreciated!

Many thanks - Leo

Hi,

Can you try to turn off the "deletable filter" option ? Does that help ?

To reorder the filters, you need to go on the filters listing and use the order column.

Hi Nicolas. Thanks for replying. Firstly, setting to a deletable filter does make the title stay on the screen, but then the other fields in that set disappear, and I can't see a way to get them back (ie. if you changed your mind).

Secondly, the ordering on the filter screen doesn't let me type in a new order or save a new order. See attached screengrab.

Any further help is appreciated! Many thanks!

All the best - Leo

Hi,

What do you mean by " the other fields in that set disappear" ? I don't see any issue with the other filters on my end ?

You need to click on the "order" title the column. that will activate the ordering system. It works the same on all the listings of the joomla backend.

Hi Nicolas. Many thanks again for your reply. Your tip for the ordering works fine. Let me better explain what I mean by the other fields disappearing.

If you visit this page: taylordynamics.com/websitev2/index.php/r...br-shaft-br-encoders

In the filters section on the left, under the field; "Mounting or Body Ø". You will see that there are 2 options:

  • Clamping Flange 58mm Ø
  • Servo/Synchro Flange 58 mm Ø

If you click on "Clamping Flange 58mm Ø", the list is filtered, but the "Servo/Synchro Flange 58 mm Ø" option disappears, and there is no way to get it back, as it is not deletable.

Any advice?

Many thanks - Leo

Hi,

Have you edited any views related on the filters ?
Can you give us the screenshot of this filter configuration ?

Is it configured as the other filters ?

Hi Xavier. Filters settings are configured the same, apart from setting the Mounting one to not deletable.

I've attached screengrabs of two filters - Mounting is the one which doesn't work properly.

Haven't edited the 'filter' view.

Thanks - Leo

Hi there,

Could you give us a screenshot of the related custom field so we can try to reproduce the problem on our end?

Mmm. I tried to reproduce the issue with the same settings on our end but it's working fine and your settings look fine.

Can you try to replace the file administrator/components/com_hikashop/classes/filter.php with the one in this archive ? That might help.

Hi Nicholas

Unfortunately, your file hasn't changed anything. Just a thought, but could the problem due to me using non-standard characters in the fields? I'm using the symbol for diameter: Ø

Thanks - Leo

Hi,

It's maybe the problem, try to change the value by removing just this symbol and try again.

Hi Xavier

I tried renaming the values, but it didn't help.

I've solved the issue by starting on the broken custom field and filter from scratch. I've redone it without using any special characters such as - " Ø anywhere in field titles or values.

This has solved the error, although I can't conclusively say if this was causing the error.

Many thanks for all your help and advice anyway!

All the best - Leo

Glad to see you fixed your problem :)
We'll try to take a look at that kind of special characters issues.
