I set Hikashop to calcuate 10% as the default tax rate, and for the tax rule, I set the zone to Australia. Please see my attached image.

My question is, if someone from overseas orders a product, will the 10% default tax rate apply to them?

I think the best way is to do a test run (buying a product) and see what it says in the back end (you don't actually have to pay just see what it says)

However i do think that the default 10% will apply.

(sorry i can't be more helpful, haven't messed about with tax etc)

Hi tjharvey,

If you :
- Have set your tax zone to Australia
- Your product's Tax category is set the "Default tax category"

Your tax will only be applied for customer who have an Australian address and who want to buy a product with a Tax category set the "Default tax category".

Hope this will help you.

Hi Mohamed Thelji,

Just to confirm, will an overseas customer pay the 10% tax or not?

To test this, I would have to leave Australia :woohoo:

Thanks,

Surely you can just setup a user in a different country (so get an address for example USA)

By the way, if you want to do some "tests" regarding your tax zone, the zone of your user will be defined when he will set and choose his billing/shipping address through the checkout, so you don't have to create another account but another address.
