Hi,

I've replaced VAT with GST in every instance I can find in the language file (English- United Kingdom) however TOTAL with VAT still appears in the order creation & order confirmation emails. How can I change this?

Also, GST is listed as AUS in the checkout..
Total AUD 4.25
Shipping AUD 1.70
AUS AUD 0.39
Final total AUD 5.95

Can this be changed as well?

As both Order Creation and Order Confirmation are emails, you'd need to change within Hikashop - System - Emails

I'm not sure which part needs to be changed but this should point you in the right direction.

I'm not an expert at this, if i post on your thread i'm doing so with the best of my knowledge and just trying to help :)

Hi,

1. tjharvey was right but this feature require the business version of Hikashop
2.
My solution would be to :
- Go to "Hikashop->System->Taxes->'Manage rates'"
- Create a new rate with the name "GST" and the same rate as your "AUS" rate
- Apply this new rate to your tax.

Hope this will help you.

Thank you both for replying.

I have created the new rate but I'm having trouble applying it to the tax.

I goto system->taxes->
but none of the options (zone, tax category, rate) allows me to select the new rate

Hi,

The rate option should allow you to select your new rate, can you show me screenshots of how did you configured your new rate and of all the choices of the rate option through your tax edition page ?

Hikashop>System>Taxes>Manage rates

Hikashop>System>Taxes

none of these 3 options - zone, tax category, rate - allows me to set the new rate

Hikashop>System>Taxes>Rate

the rate option allows me to set a new % rate, but not select the GST rate I created

OK, I didn't realize I needed to create a new Tax Rule as well (I was trying to apply the new Rate to the existing Tax Rule).

It has solved the issue of AUS appearing in checkout process, however I'm still getting VAT in the email notifications...

AUD 4.25 1 AUD 4.25
Shipping method : AUD 1.70
GST : AUD 0.39
TOTAL with VAT : AUD 5.95

Hi,

You'll just have to edit your language file through "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Language->'YOUR LANGUAGE FILE'", and to change the line :

TOTAL_WITH_VAT="TOTAL with VAT : %s"
by
TOTAL_WITH_VAT="TOTAL with VAT/GST/AUS : %s"

I have the same need to replace VAT with GST. I have created a new rate called GST and a new rule called Australian GST but I still get VAT in checkout.Iam not sure how to link the rate with the rule! I'm missing something here but not sure what!
My checkout display is also not what I want it to be.....I would like it to be as above....any help with this is welcome.

This come from a translation. So you need to use a translation override in order to change it:
www.hikashop.com/download/languages.html#modify

Thanks Nicholas... I managed to get a solution by following the steps posted by JIK (post #99445 - see below). The thing I missed was:" Product tax category = Default Tax Category" ! I had set up a new category whoich was not required. Also the Default Tax Category needs to be published - obvious but easily overlooked when panicking :)

I will modify the language file as per your instructions to amend VAT to GST in emails etc.

It looks as though your products are not picking up the GST at all.

Things to check:

Make sure Australia is published as a tax zone (System > Configuration > Zones)
Set the main tax zone to Australia (System > Configuration > Taxes)
Create a tax rate with tax namekey as "GST" with a rate of 10% (System > Configuration > Taxes > Manage Rates)
Create a tax rule for Australia (System > Taxes > New) where:
Product tax category = Default Tax Category
Rate = GST (10%)
Zone = Australia

Test a product to see if the tax is actually being recognised by putting in a Price with tax on the product edit page and then clicking into the Price box which should then auto calc the pre tax price.

May help.
