Product 'Bundles' - Using Options & Variants

Ok, I will try and explain what I need to do. I have read the docs and attempted several times to achieve this but so far not getting exactly what I need...

Product A is a group or 'bundle' of real products which all need to display as a group (but not grouped on invoice etc. which I see is an option in admin).

I also see that a product as an 'Option' can only display one variant per option in this way.

'Product A' (no physical price)
->Product B (option product) - Variant 'X' - Quantity +/- (with a default set from 0 up)
->Product C (option product) - Variant 'X' - Quantity +/- (with a default set from 0 up)
->Product D (option product) - Variant 'X' - Quantity +/- (with a default set from 0 up)
->Product E (option product) - Variant 'X' - Quantity +/- (with a default set from 0 up)
->Product F (option product) - Variant 'X' - Quantity +/- (with a default set from 0 up)

I need to have a default quantity for each option which when the 'Add to Cart' button is clicked adds the chosen quantities to the cart.

Is this possible? I have noticed that where I add a product as an option without that product having any variants, it automatically displays a single drop-down with 'NO' or 'YES (Price £...)' as choices.

I have now managed to configure the variants so that a first option of 'Select Size...' displays a price of £0.00 therefore appearing to mean 'omit option' but not sure yet if this is going to work...

Thanks

I think that what you need is to add variants on the option products. The variants can be the variant and the quantity.
Then add these option products to the main product.

Thanks, Xavier, but:

When a product is added to a main product as an 'option' it can only display ONE characteristic which (seems to) preclude having a quantity option. Currently, if Option product has NO characteristics it displays a nice (N0 £0.00 / YES £price) drop-down.

My best example is my 'real world' requirement - the quantities need to be default set by admin:

'Main Product Bundle A' ->

--> Jacket (Colour) (Size) (Qty: 1)+/- £250.00
--> Boots (Colour) (Size) (Qty: 1)+/- £ 95.00
--> Bow Tie (Colour) (Style) (Qty: 1)+/- £ 3.50

--> Braces (Colour) (Style) (Qty: 0)+/- £ 0.00

'Add To Cart'

So, only displaying ONE characteristic and no clear way to have default quantity (editable by buyer) is really limiting.

Am I missing something somewhere as this seems to be the only weak link so far that I have found since purchasing HikaShop Business...

Hi,

In your case, I would use related products.
You would have one product per "variant" of the main product.
Then, you could activate the add to cart button on the related products module (and potentially remove the link to the product page and change the display settings to adapt to what you want, for the quantity field on the listing of products, that's possible with a small tweak: www.hikashop.com/en/forum/4-how-to/24521...t-listing.html#24537 ).

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks - it occurred to me to investigate 'related' products which I will do today.

However, although this subject is of particular interest to me because of what I want to achieve, I strongly feel that this is a potential 'feature' that should be considered for inclusion in future/current development. Other shopping carts seem to deal with the issue in a variety of ways such as 'Packs' etc. But the way I see it, the development of an efficient and effective method to administer and display 'Grouped / Bundled / Kits' product types would be a major enhancement and improvement to HikaShop Business edition.

I can see a new product 'Type' of say 'Group' or 'Bundle' with such a product type not having its own price but a group of associated products (similar to the current options) each with options / variants quantities (admin set defaults with customer override on the front-end). A single 'Add To Cart' button would add the chosen options/variants/quantities to the cart with each product and its options detailed in the order/invoice etc.

A merchant/customer friendly way to deal with the above would, imho, in conjunction with HikaShop's other excellent features (the flexibility of custom fields for example) make it stand out form the crowd!

Many thanks

Hi,

Yes, bundles are on the todo list already. Thank you for your feedback.
Unfortunately, not everyone agrees on the missing feature which would make HikaShop stand out... We keep do them... but someone else always comes with another one ;)
