Background images on options menu items

Dear colleagues!
Products we deal with - different size and material posters/pictures incased in several types of frames. So we need to show texture of those frames directly on options menu items along with its width. When type of the frame is chosen the customer is supposed to see how his poster looks like in this frame.
We would be very grateful if you could guide us how to do this.

I think that you have to edit the view "product / option" and add a if condition, if the option is the material one so change the options to display images where the link depend on the option name.
It require PHP skills.
