Google product data feed and variants

Hi if someone could shed some light on this?

I have more than 1000 products in my store.
with variants included around 21,000 items.

When creating the google data feeds some are showing as not in stock, because it seems that I should add all the variants together for the main product.
Google has a provision for variants:

support.google.com/merchants/bin/answer....en&answer=2886435#GB

It is impossible for me to add all the variants together and the feed is constantly rejected.

This is a massive short coming of hikashop and there must a workaround for the this great shopping cart.
It is no use having the best cart and ecommerce store if we cannot bring customers in?

Kind regards,

Hi,

The google product plugin only generate a XML for the main products. It doesn't take into account variants.
So I don't see the link between the variants and the feed being rejected.

What error do you have when you import the XML in google products ?

For some it is saying the brand is not there which appears.

But the main issue is this: Because I have over 21,000 items and 1,000 Main products, some variants are out of stock which is the main issue.

There must be a way or the plugin needs to be modified to add up all the variants?

and for the errors this is what I get:

Error type Percentage Count
Missing Unique Product Identifiers 100% 95
Roboted images 100% 971

The error "Error type Percentage Count" means that there is an issue with the price format.
We would need a sample of your XML to say anything on that.

Regarding the missing UPI, that depends on the category of your products:

You can actually usually solve the second issue yourself with the configuration of the plugin.
Here is a table of the required field based on the type of the product:
support.google.com/merchants/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1344057
The mpn can be added by turning on the "add code" option of the plugin (that will put the product code in it.
The brand can be added by filling the brand option of the plugin with some text.

So again, I don't see any link with the variants data here. As I said in my previous message, the variant data is not used by the plugin. It sure could technically be added. But I doubt your server would be able to export a XML file built from 22K records. Loading all that in memory will almost certainly make the page processing crash. That would require to redo the plugin from the ground up to load the data little by little while the XML is constructed and sent to the browser. While it's not impossible, that's a huge task.
