URL problem when using HikaShop Content Module

Hi there,

I have now discovered from my previous thread ( www.hikashop.com/en/forum/4-how-to/78270...-products.html#89618 ) that the new version of hikashop sorts out the URL problem for related products by using the new "SEF url options" in the configuration panel. Which is great.

However, I have noticed a different problem. For instance, on my clients website, on the frontpage, I am using a HikaShop content module to display the "Latest Products". If I click on one of these latest products, it produces a different URL to the actual product URL if accessed via the main menu.

The normal URL for a product on my site is " www.mywebsiteurl.com/my product category/my product name"
However, when I click on the corresponding product when displayed through the Latest Products module the URL displayed is
" www.mywebsiteurl.com/component/hikashop/my product name?Itemid=0"

Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

This is therefore creating 2 URL's for the same product, which I do not want, I want all product URLs to be in the same format and only 1 URL per product.

I thought maybe if I purchased sh404SEF I could use that to redirect the incorrect URL's to the proper URL, however I have just been reading on this forum and everyone is saying that sh404SEF completely screws everything up with HikaShop and not to use it. So I am at a loss as to what to do here.

Please can you advise how to solve this problem?

Many thanks,

Keith

Hi,

The component/hikashop part of the URL of the product in the products listing modules is generated by Joomla SEF based on the menu item that you set in the "menu" option of the hikashop options screen of your module by using the alias of the menu (and not the category name). If you see component/hikashop, it means that either the menu item that is selected in that "menu" option has been trashed/deleted/restricted or that you didn't select any menu item in there.

I would recommend you to do it and that will already help. However, the system is not smart enough yet to detect the sub menu items based on the categories of the product and generate the sub menu item URL from a products listing module. So I doubt that you will be able to get
Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
and that you might have instead
Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
for now in your products listing module. But it's worth giving a try.that might just be enough.

HikaShop should work fine with sh404sef if sh404sef is configured properly. However, I don't think that sh404sef will be able to solve that URL issue for you. It doesn't know either which menu item should be used for each product. You can add manually the aliases for each product URL and in that case you will be able to get the correct URLs with sh404sef but that might not be practical in all situations (if you have a lot of products for which you need aliases for example).
