Hide/Unhide "Display #" on front end

I have display # at the top and bottom of very product page, where you have the drop down box to choose 20, 40, 60 or all products in that category on one page.

I cannot switch it off. Please show me how to do it!

I think that you'll probably find your answer there :

Do you have a pagination on your product listing? If it's the case, you must just set a bigger number of displayed product in the attached menu/module and this dropdown should not be display anymore.

Thank you for your reply, but this is not the problem!

On each product page it says "Display #" and then a drop down menu so that users can select how many products they want to have displayed per page. I cannot get rid of it at the top of each product page. It appears at the top and the bottom and it looks so ugly.

It has nothing to do with the configuration setting where I select number of items displayed per page - it doesn't matter what number I set that to, it stays at 20 products per page.

In the options, Configuration > Display > General display options you can find the option "Pagination" change the value as desired.
For the number of products displayed in the listing, you certainly have to edit the value in the content menus/modules.
