Update product inventory with different quantities

Hi there,
Is it possible to have the "characteristics" of a product subtract different amounts from the main product? Basically one product being sold in different quantities.

Example:

Main Product: Apples, Current Quantity: 10 lbs
Characteristics: Quantity (1 lb, 2 lb, 3 lb, 4 lb)

If one customer buys 3 lbs of apples and another buys 2 lbs of apples, the Main Product Quantity would reduce to 5 lbs.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

Hi,

I think that you'll just have to delete the quantity of your product's variants quantity, that way the variant will share the same quantity as your main product.

Hi Mohamed,

Thank you for the response but I don't think I clarified it well enough. I'm trying to figure out how to have the characteristic "Quantity" (3 lbs, 2 lbs, etc) remove a designated quantity (3, 2, etc) from the main product quantity. How do I set up the characteristics and product so that each characteristic can subtract its respective quantity?

For example: if we sell apples in a 2 lb, 3 lb and 5 lb bag only, I believe we have to designate those amounts as a characteristic unless there is way to specify that a customer can only purchase specified amounts (1, 4 and 6+ are not allowable quantities).

Product: Apples
Characteristic "Quantity": (3 lbs, 2 lbs, etc.)
If a customer buys 3 lbs of apples, the system subtracts quantity 3 from the product, if a customer buys 2 lbs of apples, the system subtracts quantity 2 from the product, etc.

Thank again for your help.

That "feature" doesn't exists in Hikashop, but you can maybe do it by creating a plugin which will require some PHP knowledge.
