This can't be right ...or what am i doing wrong?

I have products that have characteristics and some that don't, they all have also some custom fields of which a few are required to be filled in.

In my productslist i see two different buttons with the products ...
- some have "add to cart" (the ones without characteristics) and
- some have "choose options" (the ones with the characteristics).

The strange thing is that i can now click "add to cart" and add a product without the required custom fields ever been filled in to the basket.

What am i doing wrong or what is the solution for this?

The best solution would of course be that only products without characteristics and without required fields would get the "add to cart" button.
The less nice but acceptable solution could be to give all the same button for example "goto product" and have with the product details view the "add to cart" button.

Usually, you have the "display custom item fields" option turned on for the products listings so that the fields appear for the products who need them when there is an add to cart button on the listing so that issue wasn't raised by anyone yet.

Here is a new version of components/com_hikashop/views/product/tmpl/add_to_cart_listing.php file. Replace it and that will work like you want.

Thank you Nicolas for your reply ....

I just took a look at the option you mentioned, i activated "display custom item fields" but nothing changes after that.

I have attached a image that shows the activated option, then shows what i see in the frontend in the product listing and finally shows that i do have a required custom field.

What is going wrong?

You're probably not turning on that option at the correct place (probably the wrong products listing).
Go in the menu Display->Content modules/menus and edit each products listing menu/module (even the unpublished ones) and turn on that option and that should work.

Oh i understand now Nicolas, but it doesnt look so well in the front end having those fields show up in a product listing, so i went for your adjusted view that does indeed exactly what i hoped for.

I am pretty sure more people will prefer this solution, because there is also a more commercial advantage ..... if people are at all times send first to the product detail page then they also see there the related products and that might trigger extra sales.

Thank you again for helping out and wishing you a wonderful day!
