Can I do the following in HikaShop:

1) A user selects ProductA
2) There is a Characteristic for ProductA called "Thread Type"
3) If the user selects "ThreadA" another characteristic is displayed with "OptionA, OptionB and OptionC"
4) If the user selects "ThreadB" a different characteristic is displayed with "OptionD, OptionE, OptionF, OptionG"

Thanks!

I found another post which indicated the direction I should go. I am still having an issue. Here's what I did:

1) Created ProductA
2) Created CharacteristicA with options "One" and "Two"
3) Created CharacteristicB with options "Red", "Blue", "Green", "Yellow"
4) Added CharacteristicA and CharacteristicB to ProductA
5) Clicked on "Manage Variants" for ProductA
6) Removed some Variants, leaving the following matched:
One - Red
One - Blue
Two - Red
Two - Blue
Two - Green
Two - Yellow
7) Saved ProductA

On the front-end, when I open ProductA I see two drop downs, one for CharacteristicA and one for CharacteristicB. If I select "One" in CharacteristicA I am still presented with all choices for CharacteristicB. I thought all I would get in CharacteristicB is "Red" and "Blue", so I am confused.

Thanks!!
Rick

When I select the "Table" view for Characteristics I can see the options that are not in the Variants list have "X"'s and are not selectable. So that is working, but the drop-downs are still populating everything and I do not know why.

I tried again, but instead of deleting the Variants I did not need I just Unpublished them. No effect - still displaying all options.

I am running the latest version of HikaShop on a Joomla 3.0.3 install.

Hi,

By default all options would be display in the drop down.
Updating the drop down content dynamically could restrict too much.
For example you can't know that the "yellow" options exists if you don't select "two" (with two elements it is not very very problematic, but with 3, 4 or 5 it would be).

So, HikaShop let the customer select all combinations but it would indicates that the problem is not in stock, not available.

I see your point on this. For my needs, however, I would like to be able to hide options that are not available. Guess I will have to look into some code changes on my end.

Thanks!!

Is this change (dynamic drop-downs that exclude combinations that do not exist) something that I could pay to have done? It really is necessary for my needs.
