You can do it by creating a custom field of the table "user" and of the type "checkbox" via the menu Display->Custom fields.

Enter a translation key in the error message field of the custom field and in the override of your translation file, add a line for that translation key.
so for example if you have the key MY_MESSAGE you can add the line:
MY_MESSAGE="My error"
