How to change amount of columns in layout

Hello,

In VM I could set:
The amount of columns to be shown on the page
The amount of products to be shown on the page
The size of the Thumbnail images
Additional info what to be shown on the page
I could use the same procedure for both products and subcategories

In Hikashop I searched several hours and can't find a place to do this.
What I want:
Product layout pages:
5 columns to be shown on productpages
max 30 products on productpages
Thumbnails 80x80px
Product name
price

Category layout pages:
4 columns to be shown on category layout pages
max 20 subcategories on category layout pages
thumbnails 100x100px
subcategory name

I already have created a joomla menu with my main categories. It works OK. Clicking the main categories opens a (bit of a dull looking) list with subcategories.
Then clicking the (sub)category I want to show the products with the layout as described above.

How can I do that?

Thanks

Sjaak

Hi Sjaak,

You can find most (if not all) of the options you're looking for via the dashboard.

For example :
image sizes - main tab > images
nr of columns / products - display tab > css

Check this page out, there is lot's of info to play with. ;)

Hi Nico,

Thank you. I had already found the way to adjust image sizes as you describe. I only hoped for more options since one cannot adjust the image sizes differently for productpages and category layout pages. It is not as flexible as I hoped for. OK I can work around this

The other one bothers me more. Am I right that I need to go through CSS files to change columns and such? I purchase software and discover that I need to search through long lists of code and manually change codes? Not my idea of user friendly software and user interface. If I was that good at coding I wouldn't need to purchase the software. I would code it my self.

For me building a webshop is not the game. I want to have that done in the shortest period of time possible. In my game a webshop is a tool to sell stuff and not the main goal. Therefore I am willing to pay for software to relieve the burden of building a shop.

My message to the R&D team of Hikashop.

Hi Sjaak,

For the columns you don't have to go into CSS, just go to the CSS tab in the config panel.
Here you can change the number of columns, no css skills nescesarry !!

Hi Nico,

Thank you,
This helped. At first I didn't understand why a new module was created with every menu item. I also didn't understand what all these new modules where about. I dug my self in and now I do understand what it means and what is does. A bit of a large workaround to do it this way but in the end it turns out to be V E R Y flexible.

I take back my words.
