Struggling with product and category listing

I have to start off by apologizing for what I am certain is a very basic question but I have looked throughout the demo site and cannot find an example of what I am trying to do.

I would like to have menu (Shop) that points to a category listing (Our Products)
Categories are: Mandalas, Art Prints, Gift Cards

Clicking on a Category takes you to a list of products. I.E. Mandalas

Clicking on one of the products in the list takes you to an individual product page with description and details.

I HAVE been able to create this structure but the problem is the module that lists items in each category is being reused each time which means I can't have a Title for each category.

What am I missing?

Hi,

You simply have to move the "categories listing" menu item that is created by default by HikaShop in the "HikaShop default menus" menu to your main menu and you will have your categories listing like you want.
In the HikaShop options of your menu, you have the option "Use menu name instead of category name for the title" that you can toggle based on whether you want to see always the menu name at the top of the listings, or the current category name.

I truly appreciate your reply but I have tried every possible combination of menu and module and it just doesn't seem to want to work the way I describe.

The closest I could get gives me the structure I want but reuses my category module each time, which means that my category headings are not correct even though it is displaying the correct products. I was not using breadcrumbs but I turned them on to troubleshoot and it confirms the correct structure but something is not updating the titles properly.

Either my installation is broken, or I am truly out to lunch with a simple logic concept (I suspect the latter) I'll keep at it, and go back to the demo but at this point I am still flummoxed (love that word...hehe)

I'd be happy to give you access but so far the site is not online. Was trying to get this set up before I transferred it. I was using Joomla 1.5 and Virtuemart previously but my host provider no longer supports/allows 1.5 for security reasons so I had to redo everything for 2.5.9 The latest version of Virutemart is a mess and was making my brain bleed!! My needs are fairly simple and I thought I would switch over when I had the chance.

If I have to, I will forget about the titles. It works, just not what I wanted or expected.

It's probably just an option to configure as I said.
Indeed, it would help to look directly at the settings and the page with the issue to tell you what to do exactly.

Let us know when you put it online if you still have the problem and we can look at it.
