cannot select a product for a joomla menu item

I am trying to add a menu item directly to a product. When I select type of "hikashop / product page", I get a screen to choose a product. (not a dropdown like documentation shows). I can choose a product with a "check" and then click OK. I see the product listed in a white window that includes an "X" in the top right corner, but I do not see an "ok" type button to accept the selection of the product. If I choose "X", the product is not chosen

Any suggestions
