Hi, I know Hikashop limits the file size to be upload is 32 MB.

But I would like to also limit the image size to be uploaded to 500px width to 500px height in my new code.

Which back end file I should include the new code?

Hi,

There is an option for that, in Config > Main > Images, you can set a sizes for image with and image height.

Image width and Image height : You can specify a maximum width and a maximum height for images attached to products. If the images appears to be bigger, they will be resized automatically during the upload process. If you do not want to resize images, leave these fields blank. These options only apply to the "zoomed" image of products on the product page and to the current category image on category/product listings. Note that if you change these values, the images you already uploaded in your products/categories won't be resized as this process is done at the moment you upload them.

Are we talking about the main image size or about the thumbnails ?

Because in the checkout generally the thumbnails are displayed. So to change the thumbnails sizes you can edit the parameters in Config > Main > Images > Thumbnail width/height.
Or it can be done via css, if the size in the checkout must be different than the size on the product page (thumnbails).

Here is some documentation on how to customize the display via css:
