I have a new web shop that I am migrating from VirtueMart to HikaShop.
There's a lot of products for horses and riders.
There are a lot of different products with different sizes and colours both shirts, socks and shoes and
this makes all different kind of features so many that setting them up the regular way would take ages to accomplish.
I it possible somehow (on't know how) to set up some templates like in VirtueMArt where you just set up Size and then
add it to every product with the desired values for that product?
For eample a shirt that is red or black or white and also ha different sixes varying from Small to XL and also depending on colour.
Is it somehow possible to do this a mooth way without having to add thousands of different parameters in the shop backend?
Regards
Micke

Hi,
I think that the solutions would be to :
- do it through SQL queries
- create a product and copy it
- do it through a CSV file by creating a product, using the export product option, editing this CSV file, and importing it through the import product option.

Hi,
Ok so you mean I should create a product with all the features like sizee, colour etc. I need?
I have already exported all the tables from VirtueMart like products, categories, prices, product code and currency id but no product features comes along with those tables.
I don't quite understand what you mean, SQL queries is something I don't know about unfortuanately :S
I have already imported all products to the shop (HikaShop) so they are there with all attributes exxcept from size, colour and other features. ;)
So I think this is a no go for me... 1500 + products will be a hard task even though many produccts don't have any features.

Hi,

You can create a custom field of the table "item" via the menu Display->Custom fields with the Business edition.

That will add the field on the product page to all the products at once.

You mean that I then can add the feature (size, colour, weight etc.) of my choice to each product in that field? Like with Virtue mart?
So i don't have to add different size features each time I need an extra size like one feature is sizes between S to L and the next is XS to XL and then XS to M etc.?
I can use one filed and add all features for the product I am editing?

It works a bit differently to the attributes in VM.

By default when you create a custom item field, it is displayed for all the products.
If you add a new value to it, the new value will display for all the products automatically.

If you won't to display a field only for some products, you can create a specific unpublished category and restrict that field to that category.
Then, you can add that category to each product where you want the field and the feld will display for it automatically.

OK it seems then that this is not solving my issue.
Just have to face the fact that I gotta add all attributes myself and use them on as many products as possible.
It wouldn't have been so much work if it only was different sizes but now as it is both sizes and colurs and
size ranges from S to XL on some products and from XS to XXL on some etc. that mixed with different colours makes the
options quite a few.
Thanks anyway for clearing the picture up for me.
