Module not going to correct menu item

Hi guys,

I have a site set up with a menu item for each category/sub-category etc and following links within hikashop always takes me to the correct itemid which is super. However on the home page of the site I have a module showing categories and when I follow the links in these it doesn't seem to use the correct itemid for the category's menu item.

I've made sure in the options that the menu to use is set to none as I have with other things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Try to change the menu option from none to an existing one.

The issue with doing that would be that I have different modules etc set up on different menu items that I need on these pages when I click through to them. If I set it to one then that will always load in those modules no? Whereas if I click a sub category from a category it does what I want.

Thanks!

Sure thing:

code7dev7.co.uk/

If you go to say, clothing and click into a category from there it uses the correct menu item for that sub category however if you access that same category from the three boxes on the home page it does not use the correct menu item.

Hi,

You have to change the itemId for the links in the front page.
At this moment, the link will be the same to the display content too.

Ah okay.
So there's no way for them to figure out the correct menu item based on the category?
Don't worry if that's the case, I can put something else in with similar functionality.

Ther eis already a system to figure out the correct menu item based on the category. And you can see it used on the left categories listing module of your shop.
The catch though is that for it to work, you need to select a main menu item in the "menu" option of the category listing module, and that main menu item must have directly into it one menu item per category.

So I'm not sure if it doesn't work because you didn't select the menu item in the "menu" option of your module or if it's because your menu structure is not compatible with that feature.
So check that "menu" option of your module and if it is already correct, then I'm afraid that there is no solution. Otherwise, setting it properly like you have for your other module might actually be enough.

It didn't quite do what I wanted unfortunately but I made a custom php module in the end to replicate the module with the functionality I wanted.

Thanks anyway!
