I have a category with Jewellry and the shipping for Jewellry won't be as much as say shoes, handbags, clothes, etc.... Is there a way to have a different shipping cost set-up for the Jewellry category?

I think people won't buy if the shipping cost more than the product that they are buying.

Thanks!!

Hi,

You can't set the shipping cost per category but you can set it per product.
For that, you can turn on the "price per product" option of a manual shipping method and then in each product you can set the cost for it in the new shipping prices area at the bottom for that shipping method.

This seem as if will work for what I need but I have a question.

I add the shipping for each item and the amount is being added for each item correctly to the cart, however the shipping can end up to be much more than the minimum shipping amount that I have set, which is $7. For example, if they buy 3 bracelets and the shipping for each is $3 they end up paying $9.

So I don't want them to pay $7 for the one bracelet but at the same time if they buy more than one because the item is so small I don't want them to pay $9.

So what can I do here to make the shipping work out for the customer? My goal is to make the shipping reasonable when they buy smaller items eg: jewellry.

Thank you!!

Hi,

The "price per product" have two kind of options in the product page : The price and the fee.
The "price" is the product for each product and the fee is a global price of all.

Using "fee" and quantity, you can set "qty 1 / fee $3" and "qty 3 / fee $7".
But it only works per product, not for different products in the same category.

So, if you just set values in "fee", the price will be dependent of the quantity for the product.
I think you need a global quantity price in the same category of product and at this moment, the new shipping system that is currently in development will help you because it will allow you create shipping groups and have different shipping configuration for these groups.

Is the "shipping group" option available yet? I would like to set-up a different shipping cost for the Jewellry category as indicated in this thread.

Thanks!!

Hi,

Actually you have to enable the option "price per product" in the shipping method parameters and in the product edition page set the price and the access of the shipping method.
We cannot set a shipping method on a category.
