I think I'm missing a piece of information...
I have the United States published as a zone, and all the states therein as subzones.
I made a standard shipping cost for a book: $1 (rule is labeled "Books". The exceptions are Alaska and Hawaii: I made shipping rules for a book going to those states to be $4.95. (Rules are labeled "Alaska" and "Hawaii".)
But if the customer fills out the form and puts Alaska as his/her state, for example, the shipping costs appear as choices. Books $1 or Alaska $4.95. I don't want people from Alaska to have a choice; they must pay $4.95.
What setting am I missing for this to happen automatically? I tried toggling the auto select and auto submit settings but maybe I haven't hit upon the right combination?
I wonder if I've set up the zones properly. As I said, I have the United States as a zone. If I take the subzones of Alaska and Hawaii out of it, for example, and create new zones just for Alaska and Hawaii, Alaska and Hawaii don't show up on the state dropdown list. Should I create a shipping rule with its restrictions (can you have more than one restriction in the same rule?) being all the states but leave Alaska and Hawaii out? I sort of have a hazy idea of how this should be set up but the particulars are just escaping me. As a restriction in the Alaska rule, should I have, for example, a United States zone with the subzone of Alaska chosen as the restriction? And then the same for Hawaii?
Thank you for your help.
