Thumnail not showing in product listing

Hi there,

In some of my product listings spurious products arn't displaying their thumbnail image. It appears that the system is looking for them in the wrong directory because when I tell them (through some suitable on-th-move web editor/debugger such as Firebug) to look in the thumbnail_200x200 folder instead, it finds the image and displays it properly.

Heres the link to a product list in question: http://www.claycellar.org/index.php/books .

Scroll down 5 rows of products and look for the product "Ceramics For Gardens & Landscapes - Karin Hessenberg". The image should not be there. Yet if you change the img source link from:
/media/com_hikashop/upload/thumbnail_200x153/ceramics_for_gardens__landscapes_-_karin_hessenberg.jpg
to:
/media/com_hikashop/upload/thumbnail_200x200/ceramics_for_gardens__landscapes_-_karin_hessenberg.jpg
The image appears fine.

Any idea what's causing this, and more importantly, how I can fix it?

Many thanks,

Jonathan

Hi,

That's because you updated HikaShop and had edited the file "listing_img_title" before updating. Remove your customization via the menu Display->Views and that should work fine. Then, simply add back your customization to the new version of the file.

Hi Nicolas,

I had a similar problem with image files elsewhere in Hikashop, and realized that this was the problem. I have tried doing just that, and it hasn't solved the problem.

The contents of my listing_img_title.php file in the back is now attached, just so you can see exactly what I have - it says version 2.0.0 in the header.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks,

Jonathan

Maybe you also edited another view file like the listing_div one ?
Again, that is a view file customization issue.
Remove all the customizations and it will work. You can simply check on that by renaming the folder templates/YOUR_TEMPLATES/html/com_hikashop to something else. That will disable all the customizations at once and it should then display the images properly. If not, you need to update HikaShop as it could be a bug of the version you're using.

I've done that, it still fails to show the images.

It must be a bug then.

Is there any fix you can suggest other than updating it? Or any pointers you can give for me so I can look into fixing without updating?

The fix is not simple to make. Updating will be easier.
Nevertheless, if you are a proficient developer, you can compare the files administrator/components/com_hikashop/helpers/image.php /components/com_hikashop/views/product/view.html.php /components/com_hikashop/views/product/tmpl/listing_div.php /components/com_hikashop/views/product/tmpl/listing_img_title.php with the latest versions in the package that you can download on our website to see the differences and try to apply the fix manually. But again, updating should be way easier...

Thanks for this. I will have to give those files a look over as my subscription to updates has run out and we don't have the money to pay for a whole new copy of Hikashop in the budget.

Is it possible to buy updates at a cheaper rate?

Hi,

You don't need to buy a new copy. You can renew your subscription for 20% of the initial cost and that will give you again access to the updates :
