I need some help here and have read the documentation but cannot get these pages to display as I need them to.

I have
category = Essential Oils,
2 sub-categories = Lavender Ess Oils and Lavandin Ess Oils
and 6 products under each subcategory.
See www.vmrdesigns.com.au/test/SRL_design3/i...e/buy-essential-oils
I have correctly configured the top menu to link to the correct product pages but the hikashop sub-categories page will not link to the products page.
See below:

I can't figure out how to get this sub-category page to link correctly.

Can someone please assist?

thanks
Viv

Hi,

I see that there is no associated products listing module for your category listing menu.
As explained in the documentation regarding the creation of category listing menus, you should have a products listing module associated to it:

OK.
so take a look:

When I do create an associated products listing module for the category listing this is what happens:
1. The sub-category heading does link to the correct product page which lists only those products relating to the sub-category (which is what I want so good);
2. All the products for both subcategories appear below the subcategory listing. I don't want this because they do not appear in the appropriate column underneath it's corresponding sub-category heading. Basically it is confusing. I would rather the customer click on the sub-category heading and be taken to the sub-category product listing. But I can't work out how to control this.

3. Prices were doing strange things but I worked out how to get the cheapest price displaying too so that is fine.

Is there something I am missing in trying to achieve number 2?

thanks
Viv

Hi,

2. Ok then can you try to unpublish the content module which have the ID number 314 or use the "Module Assignment" option of your joomla module manager ?

As you can see, the module is unpublished which is confusing me enormously. The module still displays in front end though.
If go to the Joomla Module Manager, the same module shows as unpublished and the module assignment is set for "no pages" so why is it even showing at all?

Hi,

2. That's because in your associated products listing module, you configured the "sub element filter" option to "all sub elements" instead of "direct sub elements". Change that and you will only see the products when they are directly in the current category.

4. Associated modules are displayed directly by the menu itself and not by joomla. So regardless of whether you enable it in joomla or not, as long as you enable it in the associated modules option of a menu, it will appear at the bottom of that menu.

Ok that makes sense now but I have a question about how to link a new category listing menu (like a rotating carousel) to the existing product listings. When I create the new category listing menu, it wants to create a new product listing module but i would like to avoid having multiple product display modules if possible.

Can I force it to attach to another product display module - even if that product display module already has a different category listing module attached to it?

thanks

I think that you'll be able to do it by using the Associated modules option.
