Update Problem

I'm using Joomla 2.5.11. My control panel indicates that there are updates for Hikashop. I've received several error messages while trying to update Hikashop, but mainly one that indicates a problem with the path. I've read many threads on this subject including some on your own site. None of them have worked for me. Plus, all of my other components have updated automatically via the Joomla control panel w/o any problems.

Currently I'm seeing the message "Hikashop Business - You reached the maximum number of downloads for this version: next to the update and receive the error message "Invalid extension update".

My Hikashop is now configured and working correctly on my site, but I'd like to keep everything up-to-date as I'm hopeful that the site will begin to receive a lot of traffic and I don't want any of the software to become outdated.

What are your recommendations? Can you explain how I can manually update my software w/o losing any of my Hikashop data and settings?

As an FYI... I recently switched my hosting from a shared environment to a VPS. I believe this probably has something to do w/the update problem to Hikashop. Again I've checked the settings of the Path to Log Folder and Path to Temp Folder through the control panel as well as through the config file – everything seems to be in order.

Regards,

John

Hi,

HikaShop is probably the biggest extension that you have on your website so it's no wonder that you can get errors that you don't have with other extensions since the installation of HikaShop will require more resources, do more things, etc.
If automatic updates don't work, you can manually update HikaShop.
Simply download the installation package of the latest version via the menu Your account>Your subscriptions on our website and install it via the joomla installer and that will update your HikaShop without loosing data or settings, like when you do it via the joomla udpater.

I definitely tried this once before and I just tried it again. It produced the following error message:

JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
Warning: Failed to move file!

That error is typical of the configuration of Joomla not being correct:
