Order of the confirmation emails

Hi,

In our webshop we sell e-books. We have a free sample e-book for users to try out. User puts it in the cart, checks out, gets a "order created" email and, because payment isn't necessary, immediately a "confirmed" email. In the "confirmed" email is a link that leads to their download.

So far, so good. But. I noticed users get the "confirmed" email BEFORE they get the "created" email, and they don't realise their download link is in the first email they get. So they never download their free e-book, and don't come back to buy e-books.

Is there a way to change the order of the emails? Verified status is set to "confirmed".

Thanks,
Anja

Hi Anja,

I think this issue is not directly relevant to Hikashop since the first email is send on a trigger when the order is created, and the second is send only when the status is changing (which occurs later) so the problem may come from your server. However, I don't really know how to help you on this point.
I would advice you to just send one email, informing people of the creation and confirmation of the order. You can edit this email template in System>Email and unpublish the other one.
I guess it's the best solution :)

Thank you Eliot,

That would be the best solution if the free e-books were the only product in the shop or if every sale was paid immediately. But customers can pay by bank transfer as well, so automatic confirmation of every sale is not an option.

I guess I'll have to create some kind of workaround, like a simple explanation as to which email contains the download link. All for a free product :-)

Indeed, I missed this part of the deal :)

After thinking about the problem may come from the plugin you are using. He sends the emails before the order is created.
However it's quite hard for us to change this, we'll try to work on it but except a huge modification in the plugin I don't see any simple solution.
Good luck :)
