Book Authors

I'm using HikaShop to sell e-books. Is there any way to add a field so that I can display the author's name with his or her respective book? I've tried adding a new directory under the root menu, but that doesn't work. In the backend, I'd like to be able to either type in the author's name or choose from a list of authors so that on the front end, users can see who wrote the book.

If possible, I'd also like to be able to filter books by author.

I've attached an example of what I'd like to do.

I found out that I can accomplish this by using custom fields, but I don't like how it has the Specifications heading. Is there any way I can take that off?
