Offer Software Purchase Downloads Immediately

Hello HikaShop People,

This company deals in software downloads, so once the user's payment has cleared the payment gateway we would like the experience to be this:

1. Customer has immediate online access to download his purchase without checking his email for a download link.
2. After download customer is returned to the online store URL.

• There is a quick screen display for a few seconds that offers the user the "Continue shopping" link too quickly for the user to intercept and then the customer receives another screen display with the default "Thank you for your purchase" message with no explanation that email has been sent with the download link for his purchase.
• After the customer accesses his order link and download from the email confirmation, he has a completely blank (Firefox) browser page.

You can now display a user download space, through your user control panel where he will be able to re-download all the files that he bought.
You'll be able to display it by "enabling your customer download space" through "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Main->File".

I upgraded to the latest HikaShop Business version and enabled user download space but now I receive an error message: "No shipping method found."

These are zero weight, zero dimension virtual products delivered only by download. Other than enabling the user download space I have changed nothing. This message did not appear in the previous version of HikaShop Business.

Also, and this did not happen with the previous version of HikaShop Business either, I now see "Card validation code" directions being displayed over the search bar area of the page. No doubt this is a conflict with the responsive JoomlaBamboo template that is in use. So, how do I fix this? Is there a new HikaShop configuration setting someplace to control this?

I was able to remove shipping from the checkout process, so that's fine now.

However, enabling customer download space has made no difference to the customer experience.

The customer still sees a barely visible page flash for a couple of seconds showing he's reached the end of the checkout and this is followed by the "Thank you for your purchase" message.

Can someone please answer the following:

1. What must happen so that the customer can immediately download his purchase without checking his email for a link? That is, can the customer account access automatically be provided after the "Thank you for your purchase" message?"
2. Where can the "Thank you for your purchase" message be altered to tell the customer to check his email?

What you can do is to define a return url in the parameters of your payment method, set the url of the download page on your website.
If there is not this parameter in the parameters of the payment method, you have to edit the file "xxx_thanks.php" of the plugin to add a redirect.

To change the text displayed after the purchase, you can do a translation override on the text: THANK_YOU_FOR_PURCHASE

Thank you for the location of the THANK_YOU_FOR_PURCHASE variable. I used the Joomla Language Manager to add the text telling the user to expect an email message containing a download link. Is there a reason that you recommend using the HikaShop translation override instead of the Joomla Language Manager override?

The HikaShop payment method plugin does have a return URL field. I could not find in the HikaShop documentation or tutorials which of the HikaShop content modules are necessary to display on the download page for the customer to access his purchased product(s). Could you point me to this documentation or an example of creating a HikaShop product download page for virtual products (file) downloads?

You can use either the Joomla or HikaShop translation system, the hikashop translation override system is the same as the Joomla one.

Now you can put this link in the return url parameter of your payment method, and it will redirect to the download page after purchase.
